BAHAWALPUR: Three unidentified people injured Bahawalpur Tehsil Municipal Officer Zahid Javed outside his residence in Muslim Town on Monday night.
The TMO had just reached outside his house from a mosque after Taraweeh when the unidentified people shot at and injured him. The victim was shifted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital where he was in critical condition till the filing of the report. According to Baghdadul Jadeed SHO Irfan Akbar Khan, police was investigating the incident on various angles, including the TMO clear stance against demolition of encroachments in city and strict policy against Qabza Mafia.
On Tuesday, the TMA employees observed strike against the incident. They said that the TMO was attacked for his zero tolerance against the encroachments and encroachers.
TMA Bahawalpur City union head and Apca leader Hafiz Akhtar warned of launching a protest drive against the government if the attackers were not arrested till July 23.
TMA Administrator Rizwana Ajmal met the protesting staffers and assured them that the culprits would soon be arrested.
