DUBAI: Former Interior Minister Senator Rehman Malik called on former President Asif Zardari in Duabi on Monday to brief him about overall political and security situation of the country. In the meeting, war against terrorism, Karachi situation and political matters were discussed.
Zardari applauded the role of Pakistan Army in Zarb-e-Azb and rich tribute was paid to the martyrs. He said Sindh Rangers and police are doing a great job in order to clear Karachi from terrorists. He desired the people of Karachi may soon find peace as a result of this ongoing operation against miscreants.
Malik said Zardari told him that he, his party and the government of Sindh fully endorse the actions being taken by law enforcement agencies including Sindh Rangers against terrorists.
“The PPP has always backed and supported the actions of law enforcement agencies and Pakistan Army against terrorists,” said Zardari. He said actions against terrorists and proscribed organisations should be accelerated and their financers and supporters should be dealt with firmly.
Malik said that the former president insisted that while taking actions against miscreants, the law enforcement agencies must ensure that no innocent is hurt. Malik briefed Zardari about the increasing threats of Daish particularly in Karachi. He said the recent confession by terrorists from Daish in Safoora carnage is a clear evidence of their presence in the country.
