Chotu gang member among two killed in Multan encounter

MULTAN: Two bandits, including the Chotu gang member, were killed in an encounter with police at Qasba Charhram on Basti Malook Road on Wednesday night.
Five dacoits, including Ramzan alias Mana Langah, Shafiq and Ijaz Markand, snatched the motorcycle from a villager and escaped. On information, patrol police rushed to the spot and started chasing the dacoits. On seeing police, the dacoits opened fire on them. Police also retaliated. In the meantime, Basti Malook SHO Arshad, Sub-Inspector Irshad and other policemen also rushed to the spot and participated in the encounter. As a result, two dacoits, including Ijaz, were killed on the spot while their accomplices managed to escape.
Ijaz was wanted by police in more than 10 murder cases. He was declared a proclaimed offender by a court in many cases. The killed bandit was also the leading member of the Chotu gang, which was active in Vehari district. He was also carrying Rs 1.3 million head money. He had killed six police officials in different incidents. Police have recovered a Kalashnikov, a pistol, two motorcycles and stolen articles from the spot. Meanwhile, CPO Azhar Akram announced awards for the policemen took part in the encounter.
