GUJRANWALA: Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali on Thursday said the PML-N government had always fulfilled its promises and believed in transparency in governance.
He was talking to media men after inaugurating fourth turbine at Nandipur Power Project near. He said the PML-N government had given a gift of 423 MW of electricity through the Nandipur project and increased generation of power from 13,000 to 16,000 MW, adding that work on increasing overall generation capacity was in progress.
He claimed about reduction in loadshedding and following a definite schedule for outages. He said the previous regime had wasted Rs 33 billion on the project without any achievement as the contractor had left the work incomplete and fled away.
Abid said by spending a few billion rupees, the PML-N government had made the project functional. He rejected the claims that the Nandipur project would cost Rs 42 per unit and said the electricity produced would cost Rs 11 per unit for which the contract with Nepra had been signed for 30 years.
He challenged those who criticising the Sharif brothers and said PTI chief Imran Khan and Sheikh Rashid were telling lies on national media but the people could not be misguided.
