The City District Government Lahore’s 104 Price Control Magistrates have checked about 27,352 shops from first of Ramazan up till.
Officials said about 5,659 violation of overcharging were found in different parts of Lahore. The price control magistrates imposed a fine of Rs 3.5 million on 2007 shop keepers involved in minor overcharging while 2,423 cases had been registered at different police stations. They said about 3,878 shopkeepers were sent behind the bar while 1,396 shopkeepers involved in major overcharging were directly sent to jail.
