The PPP’s downfall

It is widely believed that Asif Ali Zardari has accomplished what General Zia with all his cleverness and hypocrisy was unable to achieve during his 11 years of tyrannical rule. Now it appears that Zardari is not keen to hand over the PPP to Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
The credibility of the majority of the PPP’s old political leaders is tainted due to corruption and incompetence. It will be a herculean task for Bilawal to stop the PPP from completely falling apart. It will not be easy to revive the ideology of the founding fathers of the party in the presence of the old guard. How can one claim to be a leader of poor people when one has billions of ill-gotten wealth and lives in palatial palaces? People are much more aware of their rights now. The gap created by the downfall of the PPP is being filled by the PTI.
