Higher Education Commission (HEC) will establish eight new sub-campuses in different parts of Balochistan over the next three years as part of federal government initiative to open one university or at least its sub-campus in every district of the country.
The information was shared by HEC Chairperson Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed in a meeting with Senator Usman Khan Kakar, Provincial President and Central Secretary of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party.
Senator Usman Khan Kakar called on Higher Education Commission Chairman Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed at HEC Secretariat on Wednesday. Issues pertaining to the universities of Balochistan province were discussed during the meeting.
The Chairman briefed the Senator about various HEC initiatives for development of higher education in the province, including different scholarship and opportunities available for faculty members, researchers and students, particularly those people who cannot afford higher education on their own expense.
The chairman also gave detail of programmes under the ‘Aghaz-e-Huqooq-Balochistan Package’ as well as Prime Minister’s Youth Programme. “We believe that significance of youth in any society could not be undermined therefore every possible step is being taken to facilitate our youth,” said the chairperson.
Senator Usman Khan Kakar appreciated HEC for bringing the much-needed change due to its initiatives during the last decade. He assured complete support of the provincial government and his party for further developing the university education in Balochistan.
