LAHORE
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has condemned MQM Chief Altaf Husain for making threats of bloodshed in the streets of Karachi if he has been removed from leadership. He asked him to talk of love and brotherhood and play his role in the restoration of peace in the port city that already had years of bloodletting.
“On the one hand, Altaf Husain claims of his patriotism while on the other hand he is talking like Mukti Bahini”, Sirajul Haq said this while addressing the JI women conference at Mansoora on Wednesday.
He deplored that there were separate laws for the poor and the elite in the country. Big politicians can easily leave for Dubai, US or London after committing major crimes but the poor man is held and put in Adyala jail for minor crimes”, he said. “We want to end this dual system and introduce a system in which all are equal”, he added.
The JI chief said secular elements were hindering the Islamic system by making propaganda. An impression was created that Islamic system simply meant chopping of hands and lashes. On the other hand, he said the Islamic system made people responsible citizens. He said that in the Shariah, all citizens enjoyed equal rights. He said secular elements also made the propaganda that Islam did not give equal rights to the women.
On the other hand, the fact was that Islam was the only religion that gave equal rights to the women. He said Islam made the education of the women and girls compulsory. He said after coming to power JI would frame a law in which denying the girls’ education would be a crime. He said the JI wanted to bring about an Islamic revolution through ballot and peacefully. He said the ruling elite were the biggest hurdle in the Islamic system.
