Punjab Agriculture Minister Dr Farrukh Javed has claimed that eatables and other commodities are available at lower prices in Ramazan Bazaars compared to the open market.
Paying visits to Model Town Link Road and Shadman Ramazan Bazaars on Tuesday, the minister instructed the official concerned to make special arrangements for women and senior citizens in Ramazan Bazaars. He said subsidy given under Ramazan package by the CM was being spent for providing relief to people. Ramazan Bazaars have been transformed into Ramazan markets through better management and continuous monitoring, he said and added the government had taken coordinated steps for providing quality essential items at cheaper rates to people during Ramazan. He said Punjab ministers and other senior officials were monitoring Ramazan Bazaars all over the province. He instructed the administration to ensure proper cleanliness in the bazaars to provide best atmosphere to citizens.
The minister checked quality of food items and inquired from the consumers about the prices. He checked the stalls of vegetables, fruit, flour, sugar, agriculture fairs price shops, poultry, utility stores, drinks and meat and expressed satisfaction. He said the provision of maximum relief to public was the top priority of the Punjab government.
He said a subsidy of Rs 3.5 billion was given on flour in Ramazan Bazaars and other commodities were available at lower prices compared to open market.
