The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf gave a 72-hour ultimatum to the Sindh government on Saturday for ordering the registration of an FIR against itself over its “criminal negligence” that left around 1,100 people dead in Karachi because of hot weather.
Otherwise, the party will stage a sit-in outside the Chief Minister’s House.
PTI leader Imran Ismail submitted an application to the Frere police station for lodging an FIR against the Sindh government.
Later while talking to the reporters outside the police station, Ismail said the PTI would stage a sit-in outside the Chief Minister’s House if an FIR was not registered.
He added that the Pakistan People’s Party and the Sindh chief minister were answerable to people for the loss of lives in Karachi.
He also asked PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to come out of his “mansion” and serve the people who had voted his party into power.
“If Karachi is in such a helpless state, one can only imagine what the situation is like in rural Sindh,” he said.
“Both the federal and provincial governments have abandoned Karachi and failed to provide basic amenities to its citizens.”
Ismail also demanded that the government should address the city’s power and water crises on a war-footing basis.
