LAHORE: An accused facing charges of minting money through bogus cheques on Wednesday managed to escape from the custody of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) allegedly with the help of lawyers after his bail was dismissed by the Lahore High Court. FIA’s Assistant Director Aftab Butt told the court that suspect Faiz Ahmad was involved in depriving innocent people of their money and issuing bogus cheques. The court dismissed the bail petition and the FIA officials arrested the suspect. The lawyers of the suspect later took the officials to the bar area and asked them to remove the handcuffs of their client. While the officials and lawyers were busy in arguments, the suspect started replying to the media queries. He alleged that Assistant Director Aftab Butt had nurtured a personal grudge against him after he contracted marriage with his niece. He said the FIA officer implicated him in a fabricated case. Meanwhile, the mother of the suspect also attacked the agency’s officials and made them to be defensive. The officials left the scene and the suspect managed to escape from the premises along with his handcuffs.
