Special monitoring committee paid surprise visits to Ramazan bazaars in different districts and checked the prices, supply and quality of essential items at stalls.
On the instructions of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, members of special committee visited Ramazan Bazaars at Khushab, Joharabad, Mankera and Athara Hazari and suspended Secretary Market Committee and TMO Mankera on the poor arrangements in Ramazan Bazaar while recommended disciplinary action against Assistant Commissioner Mankera.
The Market Committee directed the administration of Khushab and Joharabad to further improve arrangements in Ramazan Bazaars while expressed satisfaction over the arrangements in Ramazan Bazaars at Gojra and Athara Hazari. The citizens, talking to the members of special monitoring committee of chief minister, described the settup of Ramazan bazaars as a best effort and appreciated the steps of Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for provision of edible items at cheaper rates in Ramazan bazaars.
Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin paid surprise visits to Ramazan Bazaars at Sargodha, Khushab and Joharabad and checked the supply, prices and quality of fruits, vegetables, flour, pulses and other commodities at stalls. The minister also checked moisture content in the flour through special equipment in model bazaar Joharabad. He suspended Assistant Food Controller Abdul Hafeez on more moisture proportionate to standard in flour and directed the DCO to take legal action against Shahzad Flourmill Joharabad. During his visit to Ramazan Bazaars at Sargodha, Bilal Yasin lauded the administration on excellent arrangements in Ramazan Bazaars. The minister took strict notice of the poor arrangements in Ramazan Bazaars at Khushab and directed the DCO Khushab to take action against the officials of Labour Department, Secretary Market Committee and Price Control Magistrate on their absence. Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources Raja Muhammad Ashfaq Sarwar suddenly arrived at the Ramazan Bazaar Sheikhupura and checked the quality, prices and supply of fruits, vegetables and other necessary items at stalls. DCO Sheikhupura Kiran Khurshid gave a detailed briefing to the minister regarding arrangements of Ramazan Bazaars. Provincial Minister for Agriculture Dr. Farrukh Javed paid a surprise visit to a Ramazan Bazaar at Harbanspura. He inspected the stalls of edible items and green channel stalls and checked prices and quality of daily used commodities.
Meanwhile, District Coordination Officer Lahore on Wednesday paid surprise visits of Ramazan Bazaars to inspect arrangements and check quality of edibles. Officials said the DCO visited Shadman and Sabzazar areas and checked stalls of essential items besides monitoring the quality and rates of edible items.
He also met with customers and inquired from them about facilities being provided to them in Ramazan Bazaar. He asked them about quality and prices of essential commodities. He also visited fruits and vegetables Market Badami Bagh and checked the prices of essential commodities there.
