Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday ruled out the chances of meeting between PTI chairman Imran Khan and Canada based cleric Dr Tahirul Qadri in London amid rumours that both the leaders are again in London to sort out modalities for a protest movement against the Nawaz-led government.
"PTI chairman Imran Khan and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri may meet accidentally in a shopping mall, garden or park in London but there is no scheduled meeting between them in the cosmopolitan city. Imran Khan is just there to meet his sons and he visits London every year for this purpose," PTI leader Senator Shibli Faraz told The News.
To a question, he said the issue of launching any kind of protest movement had never been discussed in the party meetings held during last three months because Imran Khan had said that PTI would wholeheartedly accept the decision of the Judicial Commission.
It is pertinent to mention here that presence of PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in London has raised eyebrows of the political pundits who see another agitation based 'episode' in the political scenario of Pakistan in the coming months.
He said: "There was a reason behind our protest campaign against the incumbent government last year and if we find any other such reason then we will again launch the campaign. But at the moment PTI is not working out a plan to launch the protest movement and no contact has been made with PAT in this respect."
Shibli Faraz said that PTI had no plan to stage protest sit-in in Islamabad or any other city and some quarters are making guesswork on the basis of baseless information. Replying to another question, he said all the decisions in PTI were made with consensus and Imran Khan always took party members into confidence before taking any decision.
Shibli Faraz said the political parties always maintained their contact with the workers and the masses and if PTI did the same then it never meant that it was going to launch any protest movement against the government.
He said that whenever PTI found faults with the federal government it raised voice against it and it would continue to do so because the political parties must protect the rights of the people.
