KARACHI: Another big hockey event is going to be added in the domestic competitions as Pakistan Navy will organise the First Chief of Naval Staff Hockey Championship from August 4 to 14 at Hockey Club of Pakistan (HCP) in Karachi.
This event would be a great addition to the domestic hockey, sources told ‘The News’ on Tuesday. The Chief of Army Staff Hockey Championship earlier this year was the first drop of rain in the deserted hockey fields. Now this hockey championship would be another big addition to the domestic hockey calendar, said an official.
Sources in the PHF confirmed that all formalities related to the event had been completed. No details have been revealed of prize money, but sources said they expected a handsome amount.
Sources in the PHF said that 14 departments would participate in the tournament, which would be played at the new blue turf at HCP. The laying of the blue turf is going on at HCP besides some other development works.
HCP sources said that all these development works would be completed by the end of July. The sources said the invitation letters had been sent to Army, PIA, NBP, WAPDA, SSGC, SNGPL, Police and others.
