KARACHI: A local court on Monday ordered to send Axact Manger HR Ali Ghaffar, involved in the fake degrees scam, to the central prison for two weeks on judicial remand.
The FIA IO produced Ali Ghaffar before Judicial Magistrate (South) Shams Khoso. He prayed to extend the physical remand against Ali Ghaffar. Attorney for the accused opposed the plea and said the FIA has already interrogated Ghaffar and it was useless to grant further remand. The court ordered the IO to send Ghaffar to the central prison on judicial remand for three weeks.
The attorneys for the accused also complained that they were not provided with the copies of the statements of witnesses. The court expressed displeasure and ordered to provide the copies of statements of witnesses to the attorneys of accused. The court of district and sessions judge (South) was prayed by the attorneys of Axact CEO Shoaib Shaikh and others to adjourn the hearing on the issue of sending Shaikh and four other accused to Islamabad. The court did not pass its order and fixed June 25 for conducting hearing.
