JI to move court against K-Electric

The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has decided to move court against the K-Electric (KE) and its alleged mismanagement which led to hundreds of deaths in the city which was gripped by a deadly heat wave.
This was decided in an emergent meeting called by the JI leadership at its headquarters, Idara-e-Noor Haq on Monday. According to statement issued after the meeting, it was decided that the KE had failed to provide relief to the people of Karachi during the holy month of Ramzan and had also failed to fulfill the privatization agreement.
The JI leaders also discussed that the KE, according to its privatization agreement, should have increased the contribution of electricity in the national grid. However, it was said, even after 10 years the power utility had failed to increase power production by a single unit. JI’s Karachi chief Hafiz Naeem demanded from the authorities concerned not to revive KE’s contract and also impose a penalty on its mismanagement.
