This refers to the news report, ‘Save the Children gets green light to work in Pakistan’ (June 15). Only a day earlier the interior minister had taken a very strong stand against NGOs that do not abide by local laws. He vehemently stated that no amount of pressure will be accepted from any quarters in this respect. Then why this change of opinion? Either the case against the NGO was weak or the pressure from certain quarters was irresistible. Whatever be the case, the minister needs to clarify his position.
Unfortunately, both Chaudhry Nisar Ali and Imran Khan have a habit of shooting from the hip. They churn out statements and rhetoric based on insufficient evidence and investigation. As a result they have to take U-turns. They should both be patient and wait for conclusive and indisputable evidence before airing their sentiments.
