Economic diplomacy under way: Qureshi
MULTAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf believes in practical politics and e-visa is a landmark success of the party. Addressing an Iftar-dinner in Union Council 18, Shah Rukin-e-Alam Colony here on Tuesday, he said the foreign ministry performance had been appreciable so far. The ministry had been activated at all levels, and it “has launched economic diplomacy along with foreign diplomacy”, Qureshi said. He said the foreign ministry, on the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, had directed the foreign missions to motivate foreign investors to invest in Pakistan.
The foreign investment would strengthen economy and boost the growth rate, he claimed. Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the PTI government inherited economy in a very bad condition. The present inflation and price-hike is the result of past rulers’ corruption and ill-performance. The past governments rendered the country isolated at international level under a conspiracy, but now the country had been in safe hands, he added.
The PTI would defend and protect the ideological and geographical frontiers of the country, he said adding, “Some forces are conspiring against stability of the country, but we will have to handle such forces to move the country on development track.” Qureshi said the PTI government wanted establishment of relations with all neighbouring countries on equality basis. It is happening for the first time in the history of Pakistan that the foreign policy of the country was being designed according to the wishes of people. He said the PTI government would restore the prestige of green passport and dignity of the country. He said ambassadors of Pakistan aboard were true picture of the country and he had conveyed them that solving problems of Pakistanis was top priority of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government.
