Four cops martyred, 11 people injured in Quetta blast
QUETTA: At least four policemen were martyred and 11 people including five cops were injured when extremists targeted a police mobile on Monday.
DIG Abdul Razzaq Cheema said that the blast took place near the police mobile van in Mini Market Satellite Town. The police van was completely destroyed in the explosion resulting in death of three cops and leaving 11 others including five cops seriously injured.
The bodies and injured were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities where condition of some wounded people was stated to be critical and it was feared that death toll could rise further. The security forces cordoned off the area after the incident and launched search operation.
President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, Senate deputy chairman, National Assembly Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Minister of State for Interior, Balochistan governor and chief minister and others strongly condemned the blast and prayed for the departed souls to rest in eternal peace and courage for bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss with fortitude.
Meanwhile, in a target killing incident a traffic sergeant at district Mastung of Balochistan was martyred. Traffic police sergeant Muhammad Hanif was targeted when he was performing his duty at Stadium Road of Mastung. CCTV footage showed that target killer was waiting near the police sergeant and having found opportunity he attacked the traffic sergeant from behind hitting him on the head and snatching his government weapon. The attacker could be seen in the CCTV footage.
