OGDCL discovers gas, condensate in Sindh
KARACHI: The joint venture of Nim block, comprising Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Government Holding Private Limited (GHPL) has discovered gas and condensate from its exploratory-cum-appraisal Well Mangrio 01, which is located in Tando Muhammad Khan district, Sindh, a statement said on Monday. The well has tested 10.44MMSCFD gas, 120BPD condensate through choke size 32/64" at Wellhead flowing pressure 2085 Psi, it added.
The structure of Mangrio Well 01 was drilled and tested using OGDCL's in-house expertise.
OGDCL is the operator of the block with 95 percent stake, while GHPL holds five percent.
The discovery of Mangrio Well 01 is the result of aggressive exploration strategy adopted by the company. It has opened a new avenue and would add to the hydrocarbon reserves base of the OGDCL and of the country, it said.
Oil and Gas Development Company Limited being the market leader in E&P sector of Pakistan holds the largest exploration acreage, which as of March 31, 2019 stood at 75,133 sq-km, representing 23 percent of the country’s total area under exploration. Business exploration portfolio currently comprises 42 owned and operated JV exploration licences. Additionally, the company possesses working interest in five exploration blocks operated by other E&P companies.
In addition to this latest discovery, OGDCL’s exploratory endeavours to discover new hydrocarbon reserves in the fiscal year so far yielded two oil and gas discoveries, Chanda-1 and Mela-5 in Kohat district, in Khyber-Pakthunkhwa.
OGDCL ’s production strategy is aimed at intensifying field development activities, completion of the ongoing development projects and utilisation of latest production techniques to maintain and optimise oil and gas output. In this respect, the company during the nine months of the current fiscal year contributed around 45 percent and 29 percent of the country's total oil and gas production, respectively. Moreover, eight new operated wells; Khirun-1, Nandpur-1, Kunnar-12, Nim-1, Loti-5, Pasakhi NE-2 and Qadirpur-59 and 60 were injected in the production system, which cumulatively yielded gross oil and gas production of 226,862 barrels and 3,288MMcf, respectively.
