A combined event of open house and job fair was held at the main campus of Air University here on Thursday, says a press release.
The event was aimed to enable the final semester’s students to showcase their creativity, innovation and hard work as preparation to enter into the job market.
In his welcome speech, the Vice Chancellor of Air University, Air Vice Marshal (r) Faaiz Amir expressed his gratitude to the chief guest Ameer Ilahi, country manager of Saxon Pakistan, representatives of over 50 companies and other participants from faculty and students for gracing the occasion by their presence. Pointing towards the challenges of creating and maintaining industry-academia linkage, he added that Air University remains in touch with its alumni and industry to get feedback regarding relevance and usefulness of its various programmes and bring about required improvements in curriculum and pedagogy. He emphasised that corporate sector should play even more active role in helping the universities to bridge the industry-academia gap.
Chief guest Ameer Ilahi expressed his pleasure on attending the event where students exhibited their projects that displayed the knowledge and concepts they learnt during their study period at Air University in different engineering disciplines.
He advised the students to work hard with high level of motivation and dedication as there is no shortcut for success. He also said that in addition to joining various public and private sector organisations, the graduating students should also consider entrepreneurial careers like Bill Gates and Steve Jobs and contribute to the overall economic progress of the country. The Senior Dean Dr. Zafrullah Koreshi has also addressed the participants and appreciated the students’ innovative and useful projects displayed in the event. He stressed that the students should keep alive the momentum in future as well to earn the good name for Air University.
In the concluding remarks, the vice chancellor applauded the efforts of all organisers of the event including Senior Dean, Director ORIC Air Commodore (r) Afzaal Ahmed Khan and placement office for making the event successful.
