LAHORE: For timely help to the road users in distress and improving a coordination and emergency response time on highways, a tracking system has been installed in the patrolling vehicles of Motorway Police, central zone.
A special informative GPS Tracking System training programme for patrolling vehicles was conducted in Sector Office N-5 Central. Zonal Commander, DIG Mirza Faran Biag, explained benefits of the system. The GPS Tracking System would provide movement report, excess idle report, stop report, geo fencing report (route deviation), speed violation report and summery report, he said.
It would make coordination much quicker and simpler. With the GPS Tracking System, the location of all cars is available at the click of a mouse,” he said. DIG Mirza Faran Baig said it would also improve response times to emergencies help line 130 calls as the Control Room would be able to immediately identify which cars were closest and dispatch them to the scene, he said.
He said provision of timely help and coordination would get a boost with the help of the tracking system. He said the GPS devices would enable the officials at the control centre to contact the nearest patrolling car in case of any accidents. “They will also guide them about the most suitable routes,” he added.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Rangers, Punjab, will hand over 113 Indian fishermen to Indian Border Security Force (BSF) as a goodwill gesture on Friday (today). Edhi Foundation provided travelling facility to the prisoners from Karachi to Lahore.
