KARACHI: The third edition of the Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cup Cricket Tournament 2015, being contested by a total of 16 teams, will be getting underway here at the Lawai Stadium on Thursday (today).

The prize money of the tournament will be Rs seven lacs with the winners to collect a purse of Rs four lacs and the runners-up to receive Rs two lacs.
Arif Habib, Chairman, Arif Habib Group, in his presidential address, shared the vision of his conglomerate which desires to play a significant role in the promotion of sports in general and cricket in particular.
“The picturesque Lawai Cricket Stadium in Naya Nazimabad, having floodlights besides many other facilities, is being developed in such a manner that will enable it to host international matches in not too distant future. We wish to offer it as an alternate to the National Stadium for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), should they require it,” Arif Habib declared.
Speaking on the occasion Iqbal Qasim, a former
Moin Khan, Pakistan’s former captain, also appreciated the endeavors of the Arif Habib Group in the development of sports facilities in the country which will be helpful in raising the standard of the game.
The 16 participating teams in the Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cup Cricket Tournament 2015, have been divided equally in four groups. According to the draws, defending champions Omar Associates have been drawn in the Group A which also contains Rivo Mobile, Acme Technologies and Kaaf Engineers, while the quartet of Alamgir Gymkhana, Azad Innovators, Bank Islami and Soni Associates constitute the Group B.
Candyland, Dubai Islamic Bank, Jahanian Tigers Cricket Club and Shaboo Stars have been placed in the Group C, while the Group D features Dollar East, Heroes Cricket Club, Kashmore Cricket Club and Qasmi Gymkhana.
