Woman accuses ex-husband, police of giving life threats
From Our Correspondent
HAFIZABAD: A woman has accused her former husband and City police of giving life threats to her and her children.
Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, Saima said that she had contracted marriage with Azhar Zaman Bhatti of Bahka Bhattian about 15 years ago. She said that they had three children from the wedlock. About two years ago, Azhar divorced Saima and she started living with her father on Kassoke Road. Saima said that she filed a maintenance suit in a local court, which gave verdict in her favour.
Annoyed over the decision, Azhar with his accomplices entered her house and allegedly injured her, her mother and brothers, Saima added. She said that she went to the police station but police allegedly refused to register a case. Later, she filed a petition in the court of the district and sessions judge and on his order police registered a case, Saima added.
She said that her former husband and City police were allegedly giving threats to her and her children. She appealed to the chief minister and the IGP to provide her protection, otherwise she would be forced to set up a hunger strike camp along with her children in front of the CM House. On the other hand, City police denied the allegation.
