KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan notified the nisab of zakat at Rs33,641 on Tuesday.
The central bank said saving bank accounts, profit and loss sharing accounts, and other similar accounts having a minimum balance (nisab) of Rs33,641 on the first day of Ramazan would be obligated to give zakat.
The tax is deduced at 2.5 percent. The first day of the fasting month of Ramazan may fall on Thursday or Friday, subject to appearance of the moon.
