LAHORE
Pakistan Railways (PR) released Rs 150.75 million to pay the Travelling Allowance and Daily Allowance (T.A.D.A) which had been held back for the past two and a half years.
After an aggressive campaign by Pakistan Railway Employees Union and other unions of the national institution, PR finally decided to pay the amount after the announcement of federal budget 2015-2016.
The union held a number of protest demonstrations and rallies to express their concern at the nonpayment of the TA and DA due to a ban. Delegation of the Union headed by Sheikh Anwar and occasionally by Hafiz Suleman Butt met with PR officials including Chief Executive Javed Anwar, Minister Khawaja Sa’ad Rafique and Chairman to communicate their demands. The persistent lobbying paid dividend finally and the funds had been released.
