PESHAWAR: Prof Dr Mohammad Abid has been appointed as Dean Faculty of Numerical and Physical Sciences, University of Peshawar.
A notification issued here on Friday said: “The Khyber Pakh-tunkhwa Governor, Chancellor University of Peshawar, is pleased to appoint Prof Dr Mohammad Abid, a senior faculty member at the Department of Computer Science as Dean Faculty of Numerical and Physical Sciences for a period of three years.”
Dr Abid joined Computer Studies Centre of the university in 1984 as lecturer. He is among the founding members of the Department of Computer Science in the University of Peshawar.
He got the science and technology scholarship in 1986 for pursuing PhD from Cranfield University, UK. He rejoined the University of Peshawar after completing his PhD and was appointed head of the department in 1991.
Dr Abid also served as the founding director of FAST-National University in Peshawar from July 2001 to December 2003. He introduced the programmes of BS Computer Science (1998), MS Computer Science (2005) and PhD Computer Science (2009) in his department.
