The Pakistan Peoples Party has announced its candidate for contesting the upcoming election to the slot of Karachi’s deputy mayor.
According to General Secretary PPP Sindh Waqar Mehdi on Friday, Opposition Leader in City Council Karamullah Waqasi, who belongs to the PPP, will be the candidate of the party for the upcoming election to the position of the deputy mayor.
The election for the deputy mayor of Karachi will be held on April 18 in which members of the City Council will cast their votes. The position fell vacant after the Election Commission of Pakistan disqualified Pak Sarzameen Party’s Arshad Vohra for changing his political party (Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan) after having been elected deputy mayor of Karachi.
Mehdi said the Peoples Party would emerge victorious and defeat all its opponents in the forthcoming local government elections in the province, which would be held next year.
