Respect democracy

This refers to the news report, ‘All wars fought during martial law eras: Nawaz’ (June 5). People would agree with the prime minister when he says ‘respect democracy’ or better still give democracy a chance. However, we have seen that during the rule of the past elected governments lucrative posts in government institutions were not awarded on merit.
Let us hope our institutions will learn from the past and concentrate on good governance, promoting education, healthcare and creation of wealth in the country.
