HARIPUR: A former provincial minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Qazi Muhammad Asad Khan Thursday claimed that his party would form the next district government in Haripur.
He expressed these views while speaking to the participants of a public meeting at Basti Buland Khan House here where the district councilor-elect Javed Khan Jadoon announced joining the PML-N along with his supporters.
He said the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf had committed massive rigging by using official machinery, but the ideological base of the PML-N was still intact. “People have pinned hopes on the party as it has the ability to deliver and change their destiny,” he added.
Qazi, who joined PML-N after quitting the ANP before ahead of the last general elections and lost to PTI’s candidate Yousuf Ayub and later his younger brother Akbar Ayub, said his rivals were busy wooing the independents in the name of development projects.
However, he claimed that the independents would soon join PML-N, enabling it to form the district government. “Not only district but we will form the Tehsil govts as well,” he added. Criticizing a former provincial minister and leader of PTI Yousaf Ayub, he said he had been declared ineligible for the public office by the Supreme Court under Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution and would remain the same for the rest of his life.
Javed Khan Jadoon, district councillor-elect from the Kholiyan Bala Union Council in his speech said that he believed the PML-N was the only party which could protect the integrity of Pakistan and lead it to development. President of PML-N district chapter Sahibzada Hamid Shah, Sajjad Khan Bagra were among those who spoke to the participants.
