FAISALABAD: Educational scholarships amounting Rs. 2.7 million were given to 98 talented students of minority community of Faisalabad division on Wednesday.
The checks were distributed by Punjab Minister for Minorities Affairs & Human Rights Ejaz Aalam Augustin during a ceremony held at Circuit House. Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sardar Saifullah Dogar, AOC Riaz Anjum, Protocol Officer Mian Farooq, President West Punjab Region PTI Habqoob Gill, Senior Vice President Farooq Khokhar, Nargis Naheed and representatives of minority community were present on the occasion.
Punjab Chief Minister had allocated Rs 30 million for providing educational scholarships to talented students of minorities during the current year and the government was committed to raise the percentage of scholarship.
He said the policy of 5 percent quota of minorities in govt. jobs had been implemented in letter and spirits on the orders of the CM and the minority employees were serving in police, judiciary, civil service and other department on high and attractive posts through this policy.
He said the minority citizens were also serving equally as Pakistani and the present government was protecting their rights for bringing them in the mainstream of development. During the ceremony of scholarships were distributed among students of professional education, post graduates, graduates, intermediate and SSC.
Meanwhile, the minister met with Divisional Commissioner Mehmood Javed Bhatti and RPO Ghulam Mehmood Dogar in their offices and discussed the matters regarding minority affairs in the Faisalabad division.
