LAHORE: Former premier Nawaz Sharif was brought to the Sharif Medical City Hospital Tuesday afternoon where several specialists checked him for the third time in this week. Nawaz’s personal
physician Dr Adnan told media that PML-N Quaid stayed at the hospital for over two hours during which doctors took his many tests for determining the actual nature of health problems. Dr Adnan said a medical board comprising senior doctors has been constituted for further treatment of Nawaz. However, his proper treatment could not be started as yet since doctors were trying to reach some conclusion about the actual illness and the right mode of treatment for it. He said the doctors were yet to determine whether complete treatment was possible within the six weeks time the Supreme Court had given him on medical ground to remain out of jail.
Dr Adnan said heart and kidney specialists thoroughly examined Nawaz. The doctors also consulted with his surgeon in London Dr Lawrence for detecting the root cause of his health problems, he added. He said pain in Nawaz’s kidneys was increasing during the last few days. He said the doctors have decided to fix holter device in his chest to monitor his heartbeat on his next visit. They are also considering conducting echo test.
He said the doctors were also mulling shifting him to hospital since his condition had deteriorated while staying in jail for the last few months. He said the possibilities of his medical treatment in Pakistan were being weighed for reaching final decision. A large number of PML-N workers were present at Nawaz’s Raiwind residence and at the hospital, but due to strict security arrangements none of them were allowed to meet him.
