India responded aptly by Naya Pakistan, says Qureshi

LAHORE : Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that after February 27 the world got the message that this was Naya Pakistan.

He said the Indian aggression was given a befitting response by Naya Pakistan. He also said National Action Plan (NAP) was being implemented and added future of the country was in safe hands.

He stated this while addressing the 17th convocation of the University of Management and Technology (UMT) held on the university’s campus here Monday in which a total of 739 graduates were awarded degrees in various disciplines, including 322 bachelors, 130 Masters, 283 MS/MPhil and four PhD degrees.

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi was the chief guest while UMT/ILM President Ibrahim Hassan Murad, Rector UMT Dr Muhammad Aslam, Chairman UMT Dr Ahmad Omer Murad, faculty members and a large number of students and their parents were present on the occasion.

Congratulating the UMT students and their parents, Shah Mahmood Qureshi said after February 27 the world had got the message that this was Naya Pakistan. He said Indian aggression was given a befitting response by Naya Pakistan. He also said National Action Plan (NAP) was being implemented and added future of the country was in safe hands. Shah Mahmood Qureshi also said Pakistani youth was highly talented and urged the youngsters to work hard as they were the future leaders of the country. He said the PTI was investing in human capital as this was the key to development and prosperity. Speaking on the occasion, Ibrahim Hassan Murad said Mr Qureshi played a pivotal role in restoring Pakistan’s prestige in the international arena as he not only fought the case of 200 million Pakistanis, but also represented two billion Muslims of the world globally.

Ibrahim Hassan Murad said, our future posed monumental challenges and now it was our turn to play a positive role. He advised the students to work hard like Quaid-e-Azam and engage in productive work, securing a role in the global arena on the foundation of our own cultural values and traditions. He advised students to never underestimate their abilities and understand that age was never a barrier to achieving success in life. He told them that our beloved Holy Prophet (PBUH) also emphasised on the role of youngsters.

Dr Muhammad Aslam said UMT paid a lot of emphasis on faculty and was home to 450+ teachers, out of which 150 were PhD holders. Not only this, UMT offers a wide variety of degree programmes that are accredited by their respective national accreditation councils, he added.

He said UMT secured a place in the top 500 universities of Asia, according to the QS Asia ranking 2019, which highlighted how UMT was leading higher education with outstanding academic and research endeavours as well as achievements.
