Syed Abidi getsPakistan Legends Award
LAHORE : Renowned educationist and acclaimed career counsellor and motivator Syed Abidi has been awarded Pakistan Legends Award.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar conferred the award on him at a ceremony held at the Governor House on Saturday night. Experts from different fields of life from across the country have been awarded Pakistan Legends Award for their role in national development. Prominent among those were conferred the awards by the Governor of Punjab included acclaimed ghazal singer Ghulam Ali, film star and actress Reema Khan and film director Syed Noor.
Talking to The News, Syed Abidi, who is also a recipient of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz—a coveted civil award, said young students could be guided for selection of modern and emerging subjects through career counselling. Emphasizing on the importance of reforms in the education system, Syed Abidi said there was dire a need to innovate and revamp our existing curriculum and bring uniformity, increase education budget and adopt a transparent system of teachers’ recruitment, provide teachers’ training programme and adopt a transparent system without any kind of political and feudal pressure ultimately eliminating parallel education system.
Syed Abidi also appreciated recent steps taken by Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood and emphasised that there was a lot that could be done in terms of improvement in the education sector and hoped that the new government would succeed in giving this sector the importance that it needed and improvement in the education sector would eventually help to equip the youth with the skills that are needed for the workplace that is rapidly changing in Pakistan and globally.
He also thanked the administration of Pakistan Legends Award on giving him this award saying that such appreciation goes a long way to encourage people who are working for the development and prosperity of the country and nation.
