PESHAWAR: The Apex Committee, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday discussed the issue of induction of police in the merged tribal districts and decided that the local systems and traditions would be a deciding factor.
"The Apex Committee discussed the issue of induction of police in the merged areas and debated it from various angles. It has been decided that the local systems and traditions shall be a deciding factor as the Levies and Khassadars have served the area and rendered huge sacrifices," said an official communiqué issued after the meeting.
Governor Shah Farman presided over the meeting. Special Assistant to Prime Minister Iftikhar Durrani, Minister for Health Dr Hisham Inamullah Khan, Advisor to Chief Minister Ziaullah Bangash, Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. Gen Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood, Chief Secretary Muhammad Saleem Khan, Inspector General of Police Muhammad Naeem, and heads of other law-enforcing agencies and administrative secretaries attended the meeting.
