LAHORE: Convicted former premier Nawaz Sharif visited the Sharif Medical City Hospital on Thursday and underwent various medical tests by specialist doctors of heart and kidney diseases for over two hours.
Doctors also took blood samples for initial tests and advised the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) quaid to take complete rest and medication. After the process, he returned to his Raiwind residence, according to party sources.
Nawaz Sharif’s personal physician Dr Adnan told the media that doctors were waiting for the results of the medical tests, after which it could be determined whether the medical treatment of Nawaz Sharif was possible within six weeks time, allowed by the Supreme Court.
According to party leaders, Nawaz Sharif appeared relaxed and also waved in response to the slogans, raised by scores of workers and party leaders gathered outside the hospital and his residence. The test results were expected on Friday (today).
Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Nawaz Sharif, said on Thursday that recurrent angina and deterioration of renal function remained were prime health concerns of her father.
"Recurrent angina and deterioration of renal function are the prime concerns," Maryam said, adding that Nawaz had been advised rest by doctors. She said her father's renal and cardiac issues were more complicated and serious than what they already knew.
"We shall know conclusively once we are through with the investigations and have the doctors' recommendations before us," Maryam further said.
