ISLAMABAD: The reception of 48th Independence Day of Bangladesh hosted by its High Commissioner Tarik Hassan attracted good number of guests on Tuesday evening at a local hotel where old guards refreshed their memories.

The guests particularly diplomats kept on discussing relief provided to Sharif brothers by the superior judiciary on the same day on Tuesday. They were inquisitive about the background and reasons of use of irresponsible language by some government leaders about the opposition stalwarts. Some guests also referred to train march of the PPP leader Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and tried to find link between the court verdict and adventure of the PPP. Some diplomats were of the opinion that all the three events have not gone well with the PTI government and happened simultaneously. They were interested to ascertain the impact of the events on the future course of politics of their host country.

Bangladesh is insisting for change of designated High Commissioner of Pakistan who was posted earlier this year but the government here is silent about it.

Pakistan designated a polite and talented diplomat Sqlain Syed as High Commissioner for Bangladesh. Her appointment was declined by Dhaka and asked Islamabad to change its nominee. No Bangladesh diplomat was prepared to offer explanation on this count.

Bangladesh High Commissioner Tarik Hassan delivered his speech wherein he highlighted the economic achievements of his country. Mayor Islamabad Ansar Aziz Sheikh and Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed were among the guests of honour.
