Tennis: Malik ouplays Imran
LAHORE: Veteran Rashid Malik of ZTBL outpaced young Imran Bhatti in straight sets in the 26th Governer’s Cup National Ranking Tennis Tournament 2019 men’s singles first round at Chenab Club Faisalabad on Tuesday.
According to information available here Malik once again started the prestigious tennis event in great style by beating young Imran Bhatti by 6-4, 6-4.
Both Malik and Imran had tough battle between them as the score was equal at 4-4 before Malik breaking Imran’s serve and holding his own to win the first by 6-4. The second set was identical to the first one as same superb fight was witnessed between both the players and Malik won it in similar style with same score of 6-4.
In other men’s singles matches, all the seeded players won their respective matches and advanced to the next round.
Saqib Omer beat Ahmed Babar 7-5 6-0, Ahmed Ch beat Israr Gul 6-2 6-3, Muzamil Murtaza beat Waqas Malik 7-6 6-3, Heera Ashiq beat Jehanzeb Khan 6-2 6-3, Yousaf khalil beat Ahmed Kamil 6-1 6-3, Asad Ullah beat Abdullah Adnan 6-3 3-6 7-6, Mudasir Murtaza beat Ijaz Khan 6-3 6-3, Shehzad Khan beat Mosa Ch 6-0 6-1, Barkat ullah beat Zaid Mujahid 6-0 6-1, Abid Ali Akbar beat Irfanullah 6-4 6-4 and M Abid beat Abdal Haider 6-4 6-4.
