PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Awami National Party (ANP), Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Monday announced to form district government in Swabi.
The district presidents of the four political parties made the announcement at a crowded press conference at the Press Club in the presence of newly elected councillors and members of the district council.
The ANP, PML-N, JUI-F and PPP leaders said the May 30 local government election was massively rigged. They said the government institutions failed to perform their duties. The JUI-F district president Attaul Haq Darvesh, ANP’s district president Amir Rehman, PML-N leader Rahmat Salam and PPP’s president said the provincial government had failed to hold fair, free and transparent election.
They said mismanagement, hooliganism and inefficient staff created problems for the voters particularly the women. Flanked by elected councillors and supporters, they said they obtained majority in Swabi district and would form the government there.
They said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders besieged Islamabad over the alleged rigging in the last general elections, but it was now ignoring the demands of the opposition parties.
