ISLAMABAD: Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the poor performance of the PTI government during the last seven months had disappointed not only the masses but also the forces which had brought the
party to power.
He was addressing at a reception hosted in his honour by the business community at Dammam, Saudi Arabia. Sirajul Haq said that during the last 70 years, the people had tried different political parties besides military rulers but the plight had not receded. “The political, economic, educational and judicial system was the same as had been left by the British rulers in which the common man was being exploited and in fact the agents of the East India Company were still ruling the country,” he said.
He said that in the elections, the people cast their votes in the hope of a change. At a time, they voted for “Roti, Kapra and Makan”, at another time, they voted for “Khushhal Pakistan”, and in the last year elections, they voted for “Tabdeeli”. However, he said, none of their expectations were fulfilled and they felt that they had been made a fool once again.
Siraj said that the JI had watched the performance of the PTI government with great patience and also assured it of its full cooperation in its positive steps. However, he said, instead of making any improvement in the economic sector, the government policies had worsened the economy.
He said the rulers had burdened the nation with more loans and added to their miseries through price hike. Besides, the government had harmed the national unity and harmony.
Therefore, he said, time had come when the people should rise against the ruling junta with a determination. He said the people were in search of a system based on justice and equality, adding they wanted the rulers to solve their problems and provide them relief.
The JI ameer said the masses wanted a system wherein they could get the same facilities as were available to the elite, and there was no exploitation and oppression, saying that JI could bring about such a system.
