LAHORE : The Lahore High Court on Thursday issued notices to central and provincial film censor boards on a petition challenging the copyright certificates issued to Bilal Lashari, the producer of film “Legend of Maula Jatt”.
:Muhammad Sarwar Bhatti of Bahoo Film Corporation, the producer of original Punjabi film “Maula Jatt”, filed the petition pleading that Lashari and his team unlawfully obtained copyright certificates from the censor boards.
The petitioner contended that he owned the copyrights of the film Maula Jatt and nobody could use its title, script, character, dialogue, poetry, or music. He said the respondents secured unlawful certificates from the censor boards for their movie, which was a sequel of replica of his original film Maula Jatt. Hearing another petition of Bhatti, Justice Khan on Monday restrained the respondent filmmakers from any unauthorised use of title of film “Maula Jatt”, its dialogues, characters, making/shooting and exhibition of work identical to the movie.
