This refers to the letter ‘On again, off again’, (March 17) by Muhammad Talha. KE would like to apprise the reader that the power supply in the city is normal, continuous investments within the power infrastructure have successfully exempted 70 percent of the city from loadshedding including all industrial consumers and strategic installations. Soldier Bazar is now also included among the loadshedding-free area, however there are some areas of the city where power theft (and the kunda system) is still prevalent due to which some areas experience frequent faults.
Our teams are available round the clock for the rectification of these faults to minimise the inconvenience caused due to this unfortunate menace of kundas. Further, to ensure a smoother and more reliable power network in the city, KE has initiated the Transmission Enhancement Project (TP-1000), which is being carried out in different parts of the city. TP-1000 is a $450 million upgradation plan in which 1000 MVA would be added to the KE transmission network via seven new grid stations, along with the installation of new power transformers and new single and double circuit transmission lines.
