KARACHI: The famous entertainment channel Geo TV will commemorate the March 23, Pakistan Day, by telecasting a short feature film “Laal”, a joint venture of Geo Films, Hamdan Films and Motion Content Group with the Pakistan Navy.

The feature film reflects the life of a Navy officer and the official sound track (OST) of the film has already been released. The passionate and perfect lyrics “Mere Qadam Pani Pe Hon, Naam Mera Kahani Mai Ho,” is both written and sung by Shujaa Haider.

A true story of the custodians of the sea is written and directed by Umera Ahmed and Haseeb Hassan, while the main cast includes Bilal Abbas Khan, Kubra Khan in the lead roles besides, Gohar Rasheed, Iffat Umar, Rasheed Naz, Saleem Miraj, Sidra Niazi, Adnan Shah Tipo and Adnan Jaffar. Action packed and emotional roller coaster, it was shot around the naval facilities with nail biting moments.

“Laal” is the dream come true story of an eight-year-old Baloch child Behram, who lives near a Omara Naval Base whose father works on a fishing trawler. They live in extreme poverty. Inspired by the naval officers, Behram dreams to become a Naval officer whereas his father wants him to be a fisherman. Father's resistance fades through a chance interaction with a Navy officer’s family who help Behram get education, enlist in the naval academy and graduate as a naval officer.

The movie takes a sensational turn from here when 15 years later Bahram gets his first posting in his native area and is confronted with the toughest challenge on the very first professional assignment.

Beautifully shot in day and night and capturing scenic Balochistan, the script aptly manages the themes of duty, commitment and patriotism. The story line revolves around Behram, signifying those who boldly face the odds and offer sacrifices for the country, and it dubs them as the “Laal” (hero) of the nation. The world television premier of the tele-film will be aired on March 23 at 8pm.
