Model Town case: JIT allowed to interrogate Saad
LAHORE: An accountability court on Tuesday allowed a joint investigation team (JIT) — formed to probe the Model Town incident — to interrogate former railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique in prison.
Accountability Court Judge Syed Najamul Hassan Bukhari passed the orders on an application filed by a Punjab police official, Iqbal Hussain, seeking permission to interrogate Rafique in jail in connection with the Model Town incident.
The applicant had submitted the former railways minister was nominated in the First Information Report (FIR) of the incident. He said an anti-terrorism court was requested to grant permission to interrogate Rafique through an application, but the court directed him to approach the relevant accountability court for the purpose — as Rafique has been in judicial remand in connection with the Paragon City case.The court, after hearing the arguments, allowed the investigation officer to interrogate Saad Rafique in jail.
