Dir contractors demand reimbursement of money
DIR: Contractors of Upper Dir district on Tuesday demanded reimbursement of securities that they had submitted to the Wari tehsil municipal administration as call deposits.
Chairman of the contractors association of Upper Dir, Arshad Shaheen, and others told journalists that they had deposited the money as a security with the administration to get contracts. They alleged that the TMA administration had also violated the rules and tendered various developmental projects for which funds were not approved.
Arshad Shaheen said that the secretary had written clearly in a notification that the developmental projects would not be tendered till funds were approved for them. However, the Wari tehsil administration had allegedly tendered various projects for which the Finance Department was not releasing the funds.
The contractors said neither funds were released in the tendered projects, nor was the administration returning them securities.
They said they met the TMO and other officials time and again and requested them for the return of their securities. However, they said the Wari TMO was using delaying tactics due to which they were facing difficulties in depositing security for other projects.
They said the secretary had also issued directives to TMO to return the securities of the contractors but to no avail.
