LAHORE
Provincial Minister for Food Bilal Yasin has said the government has decided to make foolproof security of passengers at bus stands.
He said that a special strategy had been devised with the collaboration of the district administration and transport owners under which special arrangements would be made for the protection of life and property of passengers. Similarly, the security system of bus stands would be improved and strict measures be taken for the security of masses at bus stops, he added.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of a representative delegation of transport owners and organisations at committee room of Civil Secretariat, here today. Secretary Transport Shaukat Khan and RTA were also attended the meeting.
The Secretary Transport told the meeting that awareness was being created among the people through special counters regarding protection against dengue and polio at bus stands while pamphlets are also distributed among passengers in buses.
He said that special care of cleanliness and comfort of passengers is being taken at bus stands and all transport owners are extending complete cooperation for implementation of government measures.
He appealed to the representatives of transport organisations to increase security arrangements for the protection of life and property of the passengers and no effort should be spared in this regard.
He said that walkthrough gates and metal detectors have been provided at bus stands while CCTV cameras have also been installed.
The transporters informed the minister that due to rush of motorcycle rickshaws, rickshaws and tongas, any incident can occur therefore traffic police should play its role in ending rush and maintain smooth flow of traffic.
Bilal Yasin assured that district administration and traffic police would be activated for maintaining smooth flow of traffic at rush places so that terrorists cannot succeed in their nefarious designs.
