ISLAMABAD: Punjab University (PU) won singles final of the 42nd All Pakistan Inter-University Women Tennis Championship by beating Lahore College for Women University here Friday, says a press release.
The third position was clinched by University of Central Punjab. The event was organised by Higher Education Commission (HEC) to promote game of tennis amongst the university students.
HEC Director Sports Muhammad Faisal Butt was the chief guest on the occasion and distributed trophies and cash prizes amongst the position-holders.
Pakistan Tennis Federation Senior Vice President Yawar Hayat and secretary Col (r) Gull Hussain, HEC Deputy Director Sports Qazi Abid, Assistant Director Sports Azizullah Khan, event organizer Awun Abbas Hashmi were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Faisal Butt said the HEC is providing opportunities to budding players and has the distinction of providing players to the national teams in the country.
