ISLAMABAD: Indian High Commissioner for Pakistan Ajay Absaria has maintained that military command of both countries has restored direct contact as the two countries have the history of ups and downs, one shouldn’t aspire for escalation.
He was talking to the fellow guests here on Friday evening at the reception dinner by Counsel General Lithuania Masood M Khan to commemorate the National Day of his country. Indian High Commissioner, who returned Islamabad after more than fortnight from his capital in the aftermath of Pulwama incident, said he had hectic days back in New Delhi.
Ajay said our two countries have learnt to absorb shocks created outside. The days of tension were not a happy experience since it adds to complexities already in abundance. He was of the view that tension isn’t in the interest of the people of two countries. He declined to comment about political situation back in his country but said people are enjoying hectic electioneering. The High Commissioner said it is difficult to predict about future mode of relationship but we must work for peace and stability. To a query Indian High Commissioner made it clear that recent events have not highlighted Kashmir issue internationally.
