Cultural images from Balochistan
LAHORE: Quetta is full of surprises for the art scene in Pakistan. Year after year, this land had produced painters and sculptors of exceptional merit and skill. Naseebullah is a pleasant addition to the list of artists. He is a pupil of Kaleem Khan and exhibits the dexterity of his master. His exhibition is opening at the Nairang Art Galley, Habitat, Jail Road on Saturday. Naseeb renders the everyday cultural images of Balochistan with incredible impressionist skill and facility through figure compositions that are so pleasant to look at, while opening a door to the beautiful rural life of the land. Naseebullah's first solo show holds the promise of a great future for this young painter.
According to the artist, ’In order to balance the color, and stroke in my work, I am bound to embrace nature. I am mostly inspired by the creation by Almighty of the human being as the “ultimate being” in the universe. My color selection is very bright and vivid. They connect the viewers directly to the tribal life and culture of Pashtuns. Balochistan is the land of beautiful deserts, mountains and many colorful valleys. I have tried to preserve my cultural heritage on the canvas.”
The exhibition shall also display a few selected works by Kaleem Khan, master of landscape painting from Balochistan. An exhibition of carpets and kilims from Balochistan, Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey will be on display on the ground floor of the gallery.
