The Green Line BRTS project was launched by the PML-N-led government in Karachi to provide an affordable bus service that runs on a signal-free corridor from Surjani Town to Tower. This project was to be completed before the end of the last government’s tenure, but it could not – as is usual in Pakistan – get accomplished within the stipulated time. Now this project is in disruption and the construction work has slowed down.
The real construction work, from Numaish to Tower, is yet to be started. Commuters are now facing even more traffic chaos issues as alternative routes are taken by vehicle owners because the busy thoroughfare, MA Jinnah Road, is blocked from Numaish to Capri Cinema because of the ongoing construction work. The present government should pay proper attention to this issue and complete the project as early as possible.
